I also wear it on ordinary day life, not only for going out at night.. I'm normally complimented or even photographed, many times without permission - people can be sooo shy, lol.
The other day, my bf and I were going to shop in a supermarket and I heard a commentary from a woman on my back. She was a 40 something woman, and was going to the very same supermarket, dressed like she was going to church, with her husband and her son... I heard her saying in spanish "... you see, this is only an attention call, they don't wear that at their home, it's like if I wear the "gipsy" dress to go shopping".
I couldn't help it. Controlling my laughter, I stopped, turned to her and told her...
"Actually I'm spanish, this is a present from english friends and I like to wear it 'cause it's a casual wear in some parts of the world, quite comfortable and ellegant. The "gipsy" dress, as you pointed out is only for party time. This is just as casual wear as jeans, and you know, you don't need to be an american cowboy to wear one, do you?"
I leave her reaction and her family's up to your imagination. Hehehehe.
